Whitewater Kayaking Schools
If you're interested in learning to whitewater kayak it's a good idea to start with a kayak school. This is an opportunity to learn the basics of river safety as well as basic kayaking skills.
First you'll learn to exit the boat in case you flip over. Then the instructors will teach you the eskimo roll, different paddle strokes, and how to read the river. It's best to learn from a certified instructor so that you learn safe techniques and avoid developing bad habits.

You'll want to pick a school based on what you want to learn. Some schools
focus on playboating, others on difficult rivers, and some are all about
having fun on the river. The best instructors are certified by the American
Canoe Association.
You'll do all of your learning on Class I and II sections of river and if you're good work towards Class III. For those with some experience, there are great intermediate and advanced kayak schools in remote locations with access to quality whitewater. These schools are great for honing your skills, learning new ones, and running harder rapids with a professional instructor.
Kayak schools are best remembered for the other interesting people they meet in the course.
